♣The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the biggest poker event of the year. And with it come the most varied group of poker players you are ever likely to see; Amateurs, Pros (and of course AmPros), Celebrities, Housewives, Kids who have just turned 21 and Old Timers who have been playing for 60 years. As long as you’ve got a ticket, this is the event of a lifetime. And how better mark the event of a lifetime than to dress for it accordingly? In this article, the Pros show us how, or how not, to do it!

Every year at least one man, the infamous Phil Hellmuth, is bound to put on a show. Turning up late with a grand entrance has become his trademark at the WSOP – but not to everyone’s delight. This year at the WSOP Europe Doyle Brunson, the Grandfather of Poker, famously berated him for ‘making a circus out of the game’.

Nevertheless, Phil is not the only Pro who turns up dressed up to the nines. Over the years many other weird and wonderful looks that can be found at the poker table. Just remember when the cards are dealt, playing poker will always be the main attraction!

Joe Sebok , notorious for his prop bets with fellow pro Gavin Smith, provided no less than three outfits at the 2025 WSOP after having lost a bet with Gavin.

2025 saw Blake Cahail, known as Balla-B13 online, lose a bet to his roommate Blair Hinkle, and provide us with this fantastic wizard’s outfit:

In the same year Phil Laak showed us that not all costumes are designed to amuse, as he amazed us with this incredible disguise.

One can only assume this was intended to keep the famous Laak’s identity hidden and therefore give him an advantage in the game.

Whatever his reasons perhaps he should have continued the charade, as he returned on day 2b without a disguise only to be busted out after having been crippled on the river by Patrick Antonius.

Perhaps the most famous ‘tactical’ get up is of 2025 World Champion Greg Raymer. The Fossil Man’s trademark glasses have inspired many people to sport the look since. Whether a distraction, or an effective way to put an opponent on tilt, they seemed to do the job for the one-time patent attorney, perhaps most famously demonstrated in his televised hands against blow-up merchant Mike Matusow:

Yet despite all these farcical and tactical reasons to dress up for the Main Event, there is one poker player who, time and again, shows us that a bit of style and finesse does nothing to hurt your chances at the table. Dutch pro Marcel Luske, who has been known to bring seven suits for the seven days of play, often dresses smartly and appropriately for such a grand event.

Indeed, this has done nothing to hurt his chances in the WSOP, finishing 14^th in 2025 and 10^th in 2025 – not an easy achievement. In his lifetime Marcel has racked up an impressive 20 WSOP cashes. Still, even the suited Marcel Luske can show us from time to time that something about the game of poker inspires us to let out our playful side – and that perhaps this is good for our game...
